LOTUS Humanitarian in Partnership with Better Vision for Africa
Better Vision for Africa: Making a Difference, One Pair at a Time
LOTUS Humanitarian is proud to be partnered with Better Vision for Africa. This Denmark based NGO is doing wonderful work and we are happy to support them in a number of ways:
1. Glasses for Africa:
We collect and recycle used glasses from Denmark, distributing them at no cost to those in need in Africa. Our cutting-edge IT system allows us to repurpose even specialized glasses, including those for astigmatism, making our initiative unique compared to others.
We establish mobile eye clinics in collaboration with local opticians and optometry students while supporting their education with crucial resources and equipment.
The data for the glasses is measured locally in Africa, creating meaningful small-scale jobs.
2. Education on Body and Gender:
We provide education on body and gender, challenging cultural taboos. In addition to our vision care initiative, we distribute menstrual products to women in need. There's a deeper connection here: certain STDs can lead to vision impairment, so our holistic approach can prevent health complications.
3. Medical Equipment for Hospitals:
We ship medical equipment to our partner hospitals in Africa. Through robust collaboration with engineering students from DTU (Technical University of Denmark) and Arusha, Tanzania, we promote the recycling and proper disposal of medical equipment.
Join the Journey:
Participate in a charity trip where you can witness our projects firsthand. Although we can't cover all expenses, it's a unique opportunity to see our work in action and share updates and photos with your network.
